INTEGRAL COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course focuses on the psychological principles of Integral Yoga. It includes a detailed analysis of the various levels of consciousness that operate in the human being and the characteristic problems associated with the levels of the mind, vital, and physical consciousness. It includes basic yogic approaches to tackling these problems. The course emphasizes a spiritual dimension in counselling which is not a simple preaching of the truth. For the counselling to be effective and to be able reach out to the client, the therapist needs to understand and work through his/her own nature.

It also covers a detailed consideration of the psychic being (our spiritual self), which is the eternal principle within each one of us, commonly referred to as the soul.

The development and growth of the psychic being, which is key to psychological health and personal fulfilment, will be hinted at during the internship course. The course will cover an overview of the primary spiritually-oriented approaches to psychotherapy, covering both theory and practice. The course will conclude with a period of self-study and submission of a self-directed project.
